Nick Leon is an accomplished musician that was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He began playing piano at the age of 6. As years passed, he learned guitar, bass, saxophone, drums, harmonica, mandolin, and banjo. He is profoundly influenced by the music and writing of Sting, Paul Simon, James Taylor, Mac DeMarco, and John Lennon. He began songwriting and performing at the age of 15. In 2015, he wrote and arranged a 9 track EP titled “Dearest Moon”. This EP has been since erased from existence. From age 15 to 18, Nick founded and performed in an established band in Houston called All The Others, a seven piece band in which Nick wrote and arranged every piece for the band. In early 2016, his band released a project titled “All The Others EP”.
Nick studied jazz bass in high school and performed in many jazz showcases with his ensemble. This led to Nick getting into the Berklee College of Music on a scholarship for electric bass. Upon arriving at Berklee, Nick formed a six piece band by the name of Lick Neon. They specialize in psychedelic folk rock and basement house party shows in the underground Boston music scene. In the summer of 2017, he wrote and arranged a 12 track LP titled “Monday Tuesday”, which he recorded in Houston with his band. This band has since played countless sold out shows in Boston, and is currently working on the release of a new LP to be released fall 2018. Nick has worked many other gigs, including both acoustic shows in Houston and electric bass gigs in Boston. He performed regularly at numerous Houston venues such as Warehouse Live, Sterling House, The Secret Group, Walter’s Downton, and many more. His band in Boston was featured in many showcases, such as The Golden Mic showcase, most recently held at Bay State College.
After Berklee, Nick is looking forward to writing music and taking it easy until he bites the dust.
